About The Company
Old Mutual is a pan-African financial services group whose Ugandan businesses offer savings, investment, life insurance and pension products to individuals, families and employers. In Uganda the brand is best known for unit trust funds that let ordinary savers invest small amounts and grow them over time, alongside protection and retirement products.
The group describes itself as a firm believer in the African opportunity and recruits local talent to run its operations. Working at Old Mutual in Kampala puts you inside a regulated financial institution where accuracy, compliance with anti-money laundering rules and customer due diligence are part of everyday work.
About The Accounts Assistant Role
The Accounts Assistant performs the major finance activities of the business on a daily basis and produces management accounts on time. Most of the work centres on getting transactions right the first time: revenues computed and booked correctly, expenses captured with proper support documents, and every transaction carrying the correct tax treatment before remittance to the Uganda Revenue Authority by the 13th of each month.
Beyond bookkeeping, the role owns several monthly deadlines. Commission schedules must be ready for review so payments go out by the 25th, unit trust and bank reconciliations must be submitted to the CFO, and management accounts for the funds are due by the 13th. You will also deal with clients on payment queries, so the job mixes accounting accuracy with friendly, efficient customer service.

- Prepare and submit monthly management accounts for the funds for review by the 13th of every month.
