About The Company

Old Mutual is a pan-African financial services group offering life insurance, savings, investment and pension products. Its Ugandan operations serve individual policyholders, families and employers, and they report into wider East Africa structures for areas such as actuarial work.

For an actuarial graduate, this matters: the role sits in a matrix between the local Actuarial Manager and regional product actuaries, so you learn Ugandan market realities while working to East Africa standards. Old Mutual also expects every employee to apply its anti-money laundering, sanctions and KYC policies.

About The Junior Product Actuary Role

This Junior Product Actuary acts as the link between local and regional actuarial teams on product initiatives. Day to day, you will collect and validate Uganda data for pricing and performance monitoring, run pricing models and calculators under guidance from the Senior Actuarial Assistant and the EA Product Actuary, and help prepare product approval documentation and regulatory submissions.

The job also has a building element. Old Mutual wants to grow a sustainable product actuarial capability in Uganda, so you will document local processes, contribute to a knowledge base and produce product performance MI in line with East Africa standards. You will also support the Actuarial Manager in reflecting product changes in valuation and IFRS 17 processes where relevant. Strong data handling, comfort in a matrix setup and a proactive learning attitude are the competencies the advert highlights.
