Paste an advert and tap "Check this advert". We look for fees, fake email addresses, pressure tactics, personal numbers and employers that are not on NextRoleHub.

No warning signs never means "verified". Always confirm the vacancy on the employer's own website or careers page.

The 8 warning signs of a fake job in Uganda

    1. They ask for money. Application, registration, interview, medical, uniform, training or "processing" fees. Real employers do not charge you to get a job.
    2. Payment goes to a personal mobile money number. No company collects recruitment money into someone's personal MTN or Airtel line.
    3. A Gmail or Yahoo address for a big employer. Banks, telecoms, NGOs and government use their own domain or an online portal.
    4. Pressure to act today. "Urgent", "only 10 slots", "deadline tonight". Urgency is there to stop you checking.
    5. Only a WhatsApp or phone number. No website, office address or official portal.
    6. Pay far above the role. Millions a month for a role that asks for no experience or qualifications.
    7. Hired without an interview. "You have been shortlisted" before you even applied.
    8. They want your original documents. Employers verify and photocopy. They never keep your original certificates or ID.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this job scam checker free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and what you paste is checked on your own phone. Nothing you paste is saved or sent to us.

Do real employers in Uganda charge an application fee?

No. Application, registration, interview, medical form, uniform or training fees before you are hired are the most common sign of a fake job. Government bodies and large employers recruit for free.

How do I know if a job advert is real?

Find the same vacancy on the employer's own website or careers portal, check that the email ends in the employer's own domain (not Gmail or Yahoo), and never pay anyone to be shortlisted. Every job on NextRoleHub links to the employer's own application route.

What about jobs abroad in Dubai, Qatar or Saudi Arabia?

Recruitment agencies that send Ugandans to work abroad must be licensed by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. Ask for the licence, check it with the Ministry, and never pay a "visa" or "processing" fee to a personal number.

Does "Low risk" mean the job is safe?

No. It only means the text you pasted has none of the common warning signs. Always confirm the vacancy on the employer's own website before you send documents.
