Sun King is an off-grid solar energy company that combines product design, fintech and field operations to bring affordable electricity to households and businesses without a reliable grid connection. It sells solar home systems, appliances, smartphones and clean cooking products on pay-as-you-go (PAYG) terms, so customers pay a small deposit and then make small daily payments through mobile money or cash until they own the equipment.

The Area Business Manager leads Sun King’s EasyBuy direct sales in the Ishaka area. EasyBuy is Sun King’s pay-as-you-go channel, so the job covers both selling solar products and making sure customers keep paying, with distribution running through a network of Energy Officers.

A big part of the role is people. You will source, hire, train and keep a team of at least 40 Energy Officers, often using local influencers and community networks to find the right people, while setting and tracking sales and collection targets and building Sun King’s reputation in the community.
