About The Company

Liberty Life Assurance Uganda Limited (LLAU) is a specialist life insurer set up in 2006, when the Madhvani Group’s East African Underwriters partnered with South Africa’s Liberty Group. The company provides group and individual risk cover for life-changing events, including life, funeral, education and investment-linked solutions for families and employers.

The wider Liberty brand dates back to 1957, when Sir Donald Gordon founded it in South Africa on the belief that everyone should be able to build wealth and leave a legacy. Today the group operates across 18 African countries and sits within the Standard Bank Group family.

In Uganda, Liberty operates from Madhvani Building on Buganda Road in Kampala and is licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda. It sells through both tied and independent financial advisers, which makes strong agency sales leadership central to how the business grows.

About The Role

As a Unit Manager, you will run your own unit of life insurance sales agents. That means finding and recruiting the right people, training them on Liberty’s products, setting targets and coaching them until they hit those targets consistently. Your results are measured through your team’s production, so the job is as much about developing people as it is about selling.

Two positions are open, based in Mbarara and Kampala, and you choose your preferred duty station when you apply. Beyond leading the team, you will grow the customer base, support client servicing, coordinate market activations and manage client portfolios so policies stay active. It is a strong next step for an experienced insurance sales agent or team leader who is ready to manage a unit.

Benefits & Application

Benefits

Liberty has not published the salary or benefits for this role. Unit Manager positions in life insurance usually reward you based on how your team performs, so ask about the pay structure, targets and support for your unit at interview. You also get to lead a team under a well-established regional insurance brand, with a clear path into agency management.

Why Apply

  • Step up from selling to leading your own sales unit.
  • Two openings improve your odds compared to a single vacancy.
  • Choose the duty station that suits you: Mbarara or Kampala.
  • A degree in any field qualifies, so your sales track record matters most.
  • Work for one of the established names in Ugandan life insurance.
  • Build leadership experience that leads to Agency Manager roles.
  • Mbarara gives you access to a fast-growing western Uganda market.

How To Apply

Send your application letter, CV and academic documents combined into one PDF or Word document to [email protected]. Clearly state “Unit Manager” and your preferred duty station (Mbarara or Kampala) in the email subject line. The deadline is 5:00 PM on Monday, 19 October 2026. Application Tips

  • Use the exact subject line format, for example “Unit Manager – Mbarara”. Applications without it risk being filtered out.
  • Merge everything into ONE file. Multiple attachments break the advert’s instruction.
  • Put numbers on your CV: team size, agents recruited, premium written and targets achieved.
  • Show at least three years of insurance sales clearly, with dates for each role.
  • If you hold the COP, list it near the top. It is a stated advantage.
  • For Mbarara, mention any networks or languages you have in western Uganda.
  • Send before Monday afternoon. A 5:00 PM cut-off leaves no room for last-minute email problems.
