About The Role

The Agency Manager builds and runs Mayfair’s agency sales force. You will recruit, onboard, and train new agents, monitor agency headcount and fix gaps, and grow premium income through the agency channel with sales campaigns, pipeline tracking, and support on conversions. You will set agent targets, track productivity and persistency, run performance reviews and coaching, and reward and retain top performers.

The role also covers negotiating business terms within underwriting and pricing guidelines, following up quotations, and monitoring premium collections. You will build strong agent relationships, make sure agents give clients professional service, work with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Operations, and keep the agency network compliant with regulation and ethical sales standards. Regular performance reports and market intelligence round out the job.

Key Responsibilities

Agency Recruitment and Development

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop qualified insurance agents in line with the agency growth strategy.
  • Ensure timely induction and training of new agents.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to build a strong, sustainable agency network.
  • Monitor agency manpower levels and recommend interventions to address gaps.

Sales Growth and Business Development

  • Drive premium income growth through the agency channel in line with business targets.
  • Support agents in identifying new business opportunities and expanding market reach.
  • Develop and implement sales campaigns to increase agency production.
  • Monitor sales pipelines and support improved conversion rates.

Agency Performance Management

  • Set performance targets for agents and monitor achievement.
  • Track KPIs including productivity, persistency, and business growth.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Identify high-performing agents and run recognition and retention initiatives.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Coordinate continuous training for agents on products, sales techniques, compliance, and customer service.
  • Identify competency gaps and develop interventions to improve sales performance.
  • Encourage agents to pursue relevant insurance qualifications.

Business Negotiation and Revenue Generation

  • Negotiate terms and conditions of business within approved underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Support achievement of premium income, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Follow up quotations and submissions to improve conversion.
  • Monitor premium collections and support debt management.

Relationship Management and Agent Retention

  • Build strong relationships with agents to improve engagement, motivation, and retention.
  • Address agent concerns promptly and provide support.
  • Foster a positive agency culture aligned with company values.

Customer Service and Operational Support

  • Ensure agents provide professional, responsive service to clients.
  • Liaise with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Operations for efficient service.
  • Support timely resolution of client and agent issues.
  • Ensure policy documents and client requests are handled within service standards.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure agency operations comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor ethical sales practices and regulatory standards.
  • Support risk management and compliance initiatives across the agency network.

Reporting and Market Intelligence

  • Prepare timely agency performance reports and business updates.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
  • Recommend ways to improve agency productivity, market penetration, and growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Diploma or professional qualification in insurance (ACII, AIIK, CII, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with at least 2 years in agency sales, agency development, business development, or sales management.
  • Proven experience recruiting, developing, coaching, and managing insurance agents or sales teams.
  • A track record of hitting sales targets, growing premium, and expanding market presence.
  • Experience in performance management, agency productivity, and agent retention.

  • Sound understanding of insurance products, sales processes, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with internal and external business partners.
