Kyambogo's 2026/27 admissions are split across ten-plus scheme PDFs. Here is how to check the Kyambogo admission list properly and register on time.
The Kyambogo admission list is not one document. For the 2026/2027 academic year, Kyambogo University has published separate PDFs for government National Merit, district quota, persons with disability, talented sports persons, Direct Entry private sponsorship, diploma and certificate holders, external students and graduate studies, plus several “additional” lists that came out later.
That is why so many applicants and parents get confused. You open one list, do not see your name, and panic, when your name is actually on a different scheme’s PDF. Others rely on a forwarded WhatsApp screenshot and miss the registration steps that decide whether the place is really theirs.
This guide shows you exactly which Kyambogo admission lists for 2026/27 are on the official website, how to download and search each PDF quickly, what each admission scheme means, and what to do after you find your name. It also explains the documents needed for registration, what happens if you are not listed, and the key dates in the 2026/27 academic calendar. Everything here is taken from Kyambogo University’s own website. Where the university has not published something, we say so.

How to Download and Search the Kyambogo Admission List PDF
The PDFs range from a few hundred kilobytes to several megabytes, so use Wi-Fi or enough data. Then follow these steps.

- Open the official page. Go to the Kyambogo University Admission Lists page. Avoid look-alike sites and links from unknown pages.
- Find the 2026/2027 section. It is at the top. Older years (2025/2026 and earlier) are further down, so check the year in the title.
- Choose your scheme. Pick the list that matches how you applied: government or private, Direct Entry or Diploma/Certificate, graduate or external.
- Download the PDF. Tap the download button and wait for the file to open fully before searching.
- Search smartly. On a computer press Ctrl+F; on a phone use “Find in page” or the PDF reader’s search. Search your surname first, then your other name, then your index number if the list shows it.
- Confirm the details. Check the programme, study time (day, evening or weekend) and campus or learning centre printed beside your name.
- Check the additional lists too. If you are not on the main list, search every additional list for your scheme before concluding.
Tip: Some PDFs are scanned images, so the search box may not find text. If search returns nothing, zoom in and scroll through the section for your programme, which is usually grouped together.
Kyambogo Admission Schemes Explained
Knowing your scheme tells you which PDF to open and how your fees will be handled.
Government sponsorship schemes
- National Merit: government places awarded mainly on A-level performance, selected through the Joint Admissions Board process.
- District Quota: government places shared among districts so that each district is represented. The 2026/27 list is marked provisional.
- Persons with Disability (PWD): government places reserved for qualified applicants with disabilities.
- Talented Sports Persons: government places for qualified applicants with proven sporting achievement.
- Diploma/Certificate Entry (Government): government places for applicants entering with a recognised diploma or certificate.
Kyambogo’s July 2026 notice states that all candidates on these government lists “have been admitted to Kyambogo University under Government Sponsorship for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.”
Private sponsorship schemes
- Direct Entry (Private): A-level leavers admitted as fee-paying students.
- Diploma/Certificate Entry (Private): diploma and certificate holders admitted as fee-paying students.
- External: students studying through Kyambogo’s external or learning-centre arrangements.
- Graduate Studies: postgraduate diplomas, master’s and doctoral programmes.
Kyambogo describes the Direct Entry private list as provisional and advises applicants to keep checking the website for updates and later lists.
What to Do After You Find Your Name
Seeing your name is step one. Kyambogo says admission is provisional until the Academic Registrar verifies your qualifications, and a student who does not register within the registration timetable is treated as having declined the offer.
- Get your admission letter. Follow the university’s official communication on how and where letters are issued.
- Accept the offer. The Academic Registrar’s guidance says fresh students accept by signing the space provided on a copy of the admission letter and returning it to the Admissions Office.
- Enrol on ACMIS. The Vice Chancellor’s communication to fresh students says enrolment on the ACMIS system through the student portal is mandatory every semester.
- Pay fees. Pay only through the official channels shown in your admission letter or the student portal, and keep every original bank slip.
- Complete verification and registration. Central verification checks your original documents. You then self-register on the portal and register at your faculty, department, library and hall.
- Do the medical examination. All students are required to undergo a medical check at the University Medical Centre.
On timing, the Academic Registrar says government-sponsored students should register within the first two weeks of each semester. The Vice Chancellor’s message asks all students to enrol, pay and complete registration within the first eight weeks under the fees policy. Late registration may attract a surcharge set by the University Council.
Documents Needed for Kyambogo Registration
The Academic Registrar’s registration page lists these requirements for central verification of fresh students.

- Original UNEB O-level and A-level result slips and certificates (leaving testimonials are not accepted).
- For diploma/certificate entrants: original certificates and academic transcripts from the awarding institution, plus O-level and A-level documents.
- Identity cards from your previous O-level and A-level schools or previous institution.
- Birth certificate or national identity card.
- Bank payment slip for National Council for Higher Education fees.
- Two photocopies of each document above.
- Six passport-size photographs showing your current likeness.
- Original bank payment slips for fees, with photocopies for the registration forms.
- Foreign students: passport with a valid student pass; refugees: the original refugee document.
Names matter: Register with the names on your admission letter, written in full. They must match your O-level and A-level documents. Kyambogo says it does not allow name changes from those on your certificates, and initials are not accepted.
What If Your Name Is Not on the Kyambogo Admission List?
Do not give up after one PDF. Work through this order:
- Search every 2026/27 list for your scheme, including all additional lists.
- Search variations of your name, such as the order on your UNEB certificate.
- If you applied for government sponsorship, also check the private list, since many applicants apply under both.
- Contact the Office of the Academic Registrar using the official contacts: 0414-285037 / 287343 / 287502 or [email protected].
Kyambogo has run appeal, change-of-programme and mop-up lists in past years, and they appear on the same page. For 2026/27, no separate appeal list was visible when this guide was checked. If one is published, it will be on the official Admission Lists page.
If you miss out this year, the Academic Registrar’s guidance is that you re-apply the following year through the normal procedure and compete afresh. Meanwhile, look at funding options on our scholarships page.
Kyambogo 2026/27 Key Dates
Kyambogo’s Senate approved the Semester I 2026/2027 calendar on 8 April 2026. These are the dates it published.
| Date | Activity |
|---|---|
| Saturday 1 August 2026 | Fresh resident students report |
| Monday 3 – Sunday 9 August 2026 | Orientation week for freshers |
| Saturday 8 August 2026 | Continuing resident students report |
| Monday 10 August – Monday 23 November 2026 | Teaching and learning (15 weeks) |
| Tuesday 24 November – Sunday 6 December 2026 | Semester I examinations |
| Sunday 6 December 2026 | End of Semester I |
| Wednesday 9 – Friday 11 December 2026 | 22nd Graduation Ceremony |
Kyambogo also held a combined virtual admission ceremony for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 intakes on 23 October 2026. Because the semester is far along, anyone only now confirming admission should contact the Academic Registrar straight away about registration.
Save admission records and prepare registration documents
- Save the PDF. Download and keep the list showing your name. It helps if anyone questions your admission later.
- Screenshot the line, not the rumour. If you share good news, share the official link so relatives check the real source.
- Prepare documents early. Get originals and photocopies ready before reporting; missing documents mean no verification.
- Watch two pages. Check the Admission Lists page and the university’s News & Updates for new lists and registration notices.
- Plan the money. Government sponsorship does not remove every cost, so budget for the items and fees listed in your admission letter. Private students should confirm fees from official university documents only.
Avoid searching one scheme or trusting screenshots
| Mistake | Why it happens | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Checking only one list | Not knowing there are many schemes | Search every 2026/27 list for your scheme, including additional lists |
| Opening an old year’s list | Older lists sit on the same page | Confirm “2026/2027” in the list title |
| Trusting WhatsApp screenshots | Speed and excitement | Confirm on kyu.ac.ug before acting |
| Paying “admission agents” | Fear of missing out | Pay only through official channels in your admission letter or portal |
| Registering late | Not knowing the deadlines | Follow the registration timetable; late registration can cost a surcharge or the place |
| Mismatched names | Using a different name order or a new name | Use the exact names on your admission letter and UNEB certificates |
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the official Kyambogo admission list?
The official lists are on the Kyambogo University website at kyu.ac.ug/admission-lists. The 2026/2027 lists sit at the top of the page as separate PDFs for each scheme. Older years are further down. Do not rely on lists posted by unknown websites or social media pages, because they can be outdated, incomplete or edited.
Has the Kyambogo National Merit list for 2026/27 been released?
Yes. Kyambogo announced the Government National Merit admission list for 2026/2027 on 25 April 2026, and released additional National Merit lists afterwards, including on 31 July 2026. All of them are on the official Admission Lists page. Search both the main and the additional National Merit PDFs before concluding you were not admitted.
Is the Kyambogo private admission list out?
Yes. The Direct Entry Scheme private sponsorship provisional list for 2026/2027 was released on 3 July 2026, and an additional Direct Entry private list was published later. Separate private lists also exist for diploma and certificate entrants and for external students. Check the one that matches how you applied.
What does “provisional admission” mean at Kyambogo?
It means your place depends on the university verifying that your qualifications are genuine and meet the minimum requirements. Kyambogo states that admission is provisional until the Academic Registrar’s verification. Presenting documents that do not meet minimum requirements can lead to cancellation of admission, even after you have started studying.
How do I accept my Kyambogo admission?
According to the Academic Registrar, fresh students accept by signing the space provided on a copy of the admission letter and returning it to the Admissions Office. You must then enrol on the ACMIS student portal, pay the required fees, complete central verification and register. Not registering within the timetable is treated as declining the offer.
What documents do I need for Kyambogo registration?
You need original UNEB O-level and A-level result slips and certificates, school identity cards, a birth certificate or national ID, the NCHE fee bank slip, two photocopies of each document, six passport photos and original fee payment slips. Diploma entrants also need original certificates and transcripts. Leaving testimonials are not accepted.
What should I do if my name is missing?
Search every 2026/27 list for your scheme, including additional lists, and try different spellings and name orders. If you applied under both government and private schemes, check both. If you still cannot find your name, contact the Office of the Academic Registrar on 0414-285037 or [email protected] for guidance.
Can I change my programme after admission?
Kyambogo has published change-of-programme and change-of-study-time lists in previous years, which shows the university handles such requests through a formal process. For 2026/27, follow the official notices from the Academic Registrar for any change window and requirements. Do not assume a change is approved until it appears on an official list or letter.
Verify your admission and complete registration
The Kyambogo admission list for 2026/27 is spread across many scheme-specific PDFs, so check every list that matches your application, including the additional ones. Use only the official kyu.ac.ug Admission Lists page and confirm the programme, study time and campus beside your name.
Once you find your name, move quickly: accept the offer, enrol on ACMIS, pay through official channels and complete verification with all original documents. If you are not listed, contact the Academic Registrar and plan your next step early.
