About The Company

The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) is the Government of Uganda ministry responsible for tourism, wildlife and heritage. It is based at Rwenzori Towers, Plot 6 Nakasero Road, Kampala.

With the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, MTWA is in the fourth year of the National Apprenticeship Programme in tourism and hospitality, in line with the Fourth National Development Plan and the Uganda National Apprenticeship Framework (2018). The ministry aims to train at least 150 young people a year, 750 over five years.

About The Tourism Apprenticeship Role

The programme is a one-year, on-the-job training placement in accredited tourism and hospitality facilities across Uganda, starting in January 2027. Apprentices work under qualified mentors to master workplace, customer-service and hospitality standards, and sit UVTAB assessments that lead to a Level II Certificate. A stipend is payable.

The 150 places are split across eight trades: tour guide (10), bakers (20), receptionist (20), cooks (30), waitrons (25), housekeeping and laundry (20), baristas and bartending (20) and coffee experience guide (5). Applicants should choose only one trade. Women and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. All applications go through the ministry’s online form, and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Prepare scanned copies of your documents before starting, because the form asks for every attachment.
