About The Role

The Business Development Officer-Bancassurance is the main link between Mayfair and its partner banks. You will build and maintain relationships with partner banks and their branches, act as the main contact for assigned branches on insurance matters, visit branches regularly, and help bank staff spot and convert insurance opportunities. You will drive premium income and new business through the channel and increase insurance penetration across your branches.

A big part of the job is enablement: training and coaching bank staff on products, sales techniques, and compliance, and running product awareness sessions and campaigns. You will also coordinate with underwriting, claims, and operations to deliver on time, resolve customer complaints, track renewals and pipelines, and prepare regular performance and compliance reports.

Key Responsibilities

Bancassurance Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partner banks and branch networks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned bank branches on insurance matters.
  • Conduct regular branch visits to strengthen partnerships and drive business.
  • Support bank staff in identifying and converting insurance opportunities.

Business Development and Sales

  • Drive premium income and new business targets through the bancassurance channel.
  • Identify opportunities to increase insurance penetration in assigned branches.
  • Promote insurance products to bank customers through the branch network.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to increase business volumes and market share.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Train and coach bank staff on insurance products, sales techniques, and customer engagement.
  • Run product awareness sessions and sales campaigns.
  • Help bank staff understand product features, benefits, and compliance requirements.

Customer Service and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ensure high service standards for bank partners and customers.
  • Coordinate with underwriting, claims, and operations for timely service.
  • Help resolve customer complaints and escalated matters.

Portfolio Management and Retention

  • Monitor business performance and renewal opportunities in assigned branches.
  • Implement strategies to improve retention and customer loyalty.
  • Track sales pipelines and conversion rates.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Prepare periodic performance reports and business updates.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Keep accurate records of business development activity, training sessions, and sales performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Diploma or professional qualification in insurance (ACII, AIIK, CII, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in insurance sales, bancassurance, business development, relationship management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience developing and managing strategic partnerships and distribution channels.
  • A track record of hitting sales and premium production targets.
  • Experience working with financial institutions, bank branch networks, or corporate clients is an added advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Sound understanding of insurance products, customer relationship management, and sales processes.
  • Experience training, coaching, and supporting sales teams.
