About the Project: The Carbon Mangrove Restoration and Conservation Project in Ghana aims to rehabilitate 10,000 hectares of degraded wetlands through large-scale mangrove planting, biodiversity enhancement, and community engagement. The objective is to restore critical mangrove ecosystems in the Keta Lagoon, strengthen coastal protection, and promote long-term ecosystem stewardship.

The Project Manager, a senior member of the GrowthAid Ghana Senior Management Team, will provide strategic leadership, donor liaison, and overall oversight. He/She will lead a team including Technical/Restoration, Community Engagement, Finance/Admin, and MEL managers, ensuring integration, accountability, and quality delivery. The PM represents the project at the Project Steering Committee (PSC), with government, communities, and donors, positioning the project as a global model in blue carbon restoration.

Strategic Leadership & Oversight

• Provide overall vision, leadership, and direction for the project.
• Ensure cross-functional integration across technical, community, MEL, and finance units.
• Develop and oversee annual work plans, budgets, and performance frameworks.
• Anticipate risks and provide strategic guidance to safeguard project outcomes.

Donor & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison with donors, ensuring transparent communication and timely reporting.
• Represent the project at the PSC and in national, regional, and international forums.
• Foster relationships with the Government of Ghana, traditional authorities, local assemblies, and civil society.

Technical & Team Management

• Provide strategic direction to Technical/Restoration Lead, Community Engagement Manager, MEL Manager, and Finance/Admin Manager.
• Approve technical and operational strategies ensuring consistency with objectives.
• Build, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary senior management team.
• Strengthen institutional capacity and nurture leadership succession planning.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

• Oversee MEL systems integrating ecological, social, and economic indicators.
• Present consolidated reports to donors and the PSC.
• Promote adaptive management and knowledge sharing across global restoration networks.

Required Education

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Coastal/Marine Ecology, Climate Change, or a related field.

Work Experience

• At least 10 years of senior-level leadership in large-scale coastal restoration, wetland/mangrove management, or complex environmental projects.
• Demonstrated track record leading multi-stakeholder, multi-year programs with budgets exceeding USD 5 million.
• Proven ability to engage donors, government, and communities at the highest levels.
• Strong experience supervising technical specialists and integrating cross-disciplinary work streams.
• Prior experience in Ghana or similar West African ecosystems is an asset.

Technical Skills

• Environmental Restoration: Large-scale coastal/mangrove restoration and wetland management expertise.
• Project Management: Results-based management of multi-year, multi-million dollar programs.
• Financial Management: High-level financial literacy, budgeting, and donor compliance.
• MEL: Oversight of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems with ecological, social, and economic indicators.
