About The Role
The Project Engineer supervises the site installation of pre-engineered steel structures through Technical Site Representatives. On the planning side, you will build construction plans and schedules, make sure pre-installation site surveys happen, and assess the technical competence of installers and subcontractors during tendering. During execution, you will work with design, production, and customer service teams internally and with clients, subcontractors, and architects externally to resolve site issues quickly.
For monitoring and control, you will keep site work supervised to company standards, track progress and risks, visit sites to check workmanship, enforce health and safety rules, produce weekly and monthly progress reports, and evaluate extra claims for approval. You will also arrange training for installers and site representatives, and on the procurement side identify, recommend, onboard, and continuously evaluate installers and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Planning
- Develop and implement construction plans and schedules, ensuring adherence to contract timelines.
- Ensure pre-installation site surveys are done to avoid challenges at the execution stage.
- Evaluate the technical competency of installers and subcontractors during tendering.
Execution
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (design, production, and customer services) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, architects) to resolve on-site installation issues on time.
- Provide guidance to resolve site execution issues.
Monitoring & Control
- Ensure site execution is adequately supervised, guided, and monitored to company technical standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Conduct periodic site visits to make sure workmanship meets company standards and client expectations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compile and circulate weekly and monthly site progress reports.
- Evaluate extra claims and prepare requests for approval.
Other Responsibilities
- Arrange training programmes for installers, subcontractors, and Technical Site Representatives.
Procurement Responsibility
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend installers and subcontractors for onboarding.
- Monitor and evaluate installer and subcontractor performance continuously and give feedback internally and externally.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction, or equivalent.
- A Diploma in Construction or a Project Management qualification is an added advantage.
- Professional registration with a relevant professional body.
Work Experience
- 7 years of general work experience in construction.
- 5 years of work experience in pre-engineered steel structures.
Additional Requirements
- AutoCAD is a must.
- Proficiency in ordinary computer applications (Windows, Office, and Internet).
- English language skills.
- Ability to undertake technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
- Ability to make presentations and pitches to stakeholders.
