SafeBoda is a Ugandan technology company that began in Kampala in the mid-2010s, when co-founders Ricky Rapa Thomson, Alastair Sussock and Maxime Dieudonne set out to professionalise the boda boda industry. Its first promise was simple: trained riders, helmets for passengers and transparent fares ordered through a smartphone app. That model changed how many Kampala residents move around the city, and SafeBoda now describes itself as having served millions of people across East Africa.

The Business Growth Associate is part of the team that decides how SafeBoda’s marketplace grows. Reporting to the Senior Growth Manager, you will design and run pricing and growth experiments, analyse the results and turn them into recommendations. You will balance supply (riders and drivers) and demand (passengers and delivery customers), so your analysis directly shapes fares, incentives and promotions.

The role mixes desk analytics with fieldwork. One day you will be building and automating Growth dashboards in Python and Google Sheets; the next you will be out with riders and customers to understand marketplace dynamics first-hand. You will keep the experiment repository up to date, track timelines across Marketing, Operations and Product, and share market research on ride-hailing and other industries that SafeBoda could learn from.

• Work with Sales, Marketing and Operations teams to continually identify trends and present ideas for experimentation.
• Implement growth experiments and programmes as agreed by team leads.
• Implement agreed-upon growth initiatives in collaboration with Marketing, Operations and Product teams; monitor timelines, resolve or escalate blockers, and deliver actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Maintain the repository of growth experiments, ensuring they are readily available to the appropriate business teams.
• Conduct fieldwork to gain and maintain a solid understanding of marketplace dynamics.
• Conduct and share market research on developments in ride-hailing and other industries that could be applied to SafeBoda.
• Maintain strong knowledge of SafeBoda’s products and services to ensure relevant and informed business interactions.
• Maintain and automate accurate Growth dashboards, reporting tools and metric documentation.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics or a related field.

Work Experience

• Proven success in data analytics projects, either academic or professional.

Additional Requirements

• A strong data background: comfortable creating, managing and analysing large datasets using a range of programmes, including Python and Google Sheets.
• Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Able to work onsite and conduct fieldwork in Kampala from October 2026.

Technical Skills

• Python: Cleaning, analysing and modelling large datasets, and automating recurring reports.
• Google Sheets: Building working models, trackers and dashboards used by business teams.
• PostgreSQL (Plus): Writing basic SQL queries to pull marketplace data directly.
• Experiment Design: Setting up pricing and growth experiments and reading their results correctly.
• Dashboarding and Metric Documentation: Maintaining accurate, automated Growth dashboards and clear metric definitions.
