About The Company

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to people affected by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC works in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities.

IRC and its consortium partners were selected by the British High Commission (BHC) Kampala for the Refugee Support, Empowerment and Transformation (ReSET) Programme. IRC leads Pillar 1 (Lifesaving Assistance) with the Refugee-Led Organisations Network (RELON), TPO Uganda and UGANET, using a cash-first approach linked to protection and referrals across 10 refugee settlements in West Nile, Mid-Western, Northern and South-Western Uganda.

About The Role

The Disability and Inclusion Specialist makes sure persons with disabilities and other groups at risk of exclusion, whether because of gender, age, ethnicity, nationality or displacement status, can meaningfully take part in and benefit from every part of ReSET Pillar 1 on an equal basis with others.

The specialist leads the technical approach to disability and inclusion in targeting, cash, protection, referral and accountability, acts as the consortium lead on inclusion, and works closely with OPDs, refugee-led organisations and disability service providers. The role also generates evidence on what works for inclusive cash and protection in Uganda’s refugee response.

  • Develop accessible, up-to-date referral pathways to rehabilitation, assistive technology, health, education and livelihoods services.
  • Work with TPO Uganda, UGANET and IRC protection teams to make case management and psychosocial support inclusive, including safeguarding and PSEAH.
