About The Company

ZTE Corporation is a global provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions. Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, the company is listed on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen stock exchanges and supplies wireless, core network, transmission, energy and managed services to operators around the world.

ZTE opened its Uganda offices in 2007 and has grown into one of the most influential players in the country’s ICT sector. In 2015, MTN Uganda outsourced its technical operations and optimisation functions to ZTE, and in 2017 ZTE Uganda opened a Network Operation Centre in Kampala to manage the MTN Uganda network. In October 2025, the two companies marked ten years of their Managed Services partnership, which also delivered Uganda’s first Service Operations Center for MTN Uganda.

About The Role

As CS Core Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability and quality of the circuit-switched (CS) core network that carries voice and signalling traffic. You will achieve this through proactive and reactive processes, daily maintenance routines and effective fault resolution on core nodes such as MSC, HLR, STP and MGW. Reporting to the Manager, CS Core Network, you will execute work orders from the HLS pool, help develop new procedures and work within a multifunctional matrix support structure spanning Core Network, BSS, Packet Switching, Earth Station, VAS and Fixed Lines. The role also covers practical site discipline: DDF/ODF cleanups, proper labelling and clean switch rooms. It suits an engineer who is calm during outages, communicates fault events clearly through escalation procedures, and is willing to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies.
