Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries home to two-thirds of Africa’s farmers, they provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of agricultural services. On average, this model enables farmers to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent while permanently improving resilience. One Acre Fund has a team of 9,000+ full-time staff globally.

The Uganda program, founded in 2014, provides more than 34,000 farmers with quality farm supplies and fruit trees (including avocados). The team is headquartered in Jinja, working primarily in Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, and Buikwe districts in the eastern region, with expansion into the Central region.

As a Regional Innovations Supervisor at One Acre Fund Uganda, you will support regional teams, assist with training initiatives, and help execute field trials and innovations from start to finish. Your primary focus is agronomy: supporting trial monitoring, contributing to extension work, and assisting with training (including nursery management) to improve impact across coffee, trees, and nurseries.

You will report to the Agronomy Lead and build skills in project management, cross-departmental collaboration, and farmer trial support. One Acre Fund invests heavily in professional development with weekly manager check-ins, mentorship programs, training, regular feedback, and six-monthly career reviews.

• Innovations, R&D & Trial Management: Identify knowledge gaps, coordinate regional field trials, and manage data collection across the entire product lifecycle from ideation to rollout.
• Drive Regional Impact Strategy: Provide technical guidance to program teams, facilitate knowledge transfer, and design standardised data collection tools to scale new initiatives effectively.
• Field Presence & Support: Conduct regular field visits to build fluency in operational contexts, understand longitudinal trends, and support farmer training sessions.
• Support cross-department collaboration and assist with cross-functional product rollouts.
• Assist with training initiatives including nursery management for coffee and trees.
• Contribute to extension work improving impact across coffee, trees, and nursery operations.

Required Experience

• 1–2 years of experience in agronomy, extension work, or climate-smart sustainable agriculture.
• Familiarity with the scientific method, experimental design, and randomized controlled trials.
• Foundational data analysis and statistics skills.
• Some project coordination experience with good stakeholder collaboration.

Additional Requirements

• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Uganda.
• Ability to synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data into practical recommendations.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Interest in human-centered design and product development.

Technical Skills

• Agronomy & Extension: Practical knowledge of agricultural production, climate-smart practices, and farmer training methodologies.
• Trial Design & Management: Understanding of experimental design, randomized controlled trials, and data collection across product lifecycles.
• Data Analysis: Foundational statistics skills to interpret quantitative and qualitative monitoring data and identify trends.
• Data Collection Tools: Ability to design standardised data collection instruments and manage field-level data gathering.
• Report Writing: Clear written communication translating technical findings into practical recommendations for program teams.

Soft Skills

• Project Coordination: Ability to manage multiple trial sites, coordinate with regional teams, and follow through on deliverables.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Works effectively across program, innovation, and operations teams to drive product rollouts.
• Creative Problem Solving: Good judgment with ability to adapt quickly and apply human-centered design thinking.
• Training & Knowledge Transfer: Interest and ability to support training initiatives and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Field Orientation: Willingness to conduct regular field visits, engage with smallholder farmers, and understand operational contexts.
